Jung's comprehensive personality theory

THEORY

C.G. Jung's (1921/1971) theory of psychological types attempts to categorize people in terms of their primary forms of personal functioning.

The theory is based on the assumption that there are different attitudes and functions of consciousness. These two directions define the two opposing attitude types of

  1. (a) introversion and
  2. (b) extraversion.

These counteract or compensate each other.
